Electronic Arts recently released a Sims pack titled Island Living. I have a composition included in the game titled Mora Mora. I feel fortunate to have been asked to provide music for this game and had lots of fun reviewing my beloved collection of Hawaiian music from the 50s and 60s as inspiration.

Sad news to share - the world lost a brilliant composer on February 9th of this year: Jóhann Jóhannsson. His ability to seamlessly combine orchestrations with sound design and create vast space (not just soak elements in reverb) is truly inspiring. For those that are not familiar with Jóhann’s work, I suggest his track Heptapod B from the Arrival movie soundtrack.

Writing has been going what seems to be nonstop. I have found the traditional "song" format to not suit the content I create. Extended pieces constructed of multiple themes seem to best represent new ideas. Sort of like the concept album except taking up less time. 

And speaking of concept albums, please find some time to listen to Giles Martin's remix of Sgt Pepper's Lonely Heart Club Band by The Beatles. Approached with such great care and detail, I have actually become a fan of the album. While Sir George Martin's mix stood the test of time and represents what happens when creative composers team up with a massively innovative producer, Martin's son Giles has freshened the album and exposed details that are now shining brightly in the mix. The presence of Ringo's kick drum alone pushes the content and marries perfectly with Paul's always moving bass lines. Simply wonderful!

Happy New Year to all. My new year started in the hospital with some emergency surgery. Seems my gall bladder had to be removed. All is well now.

My website has set sail and officially launched.

What to expect - I will upload new tracks when available. Tracks will include collaborations, work for hire and unreleased tracks I write just because I love to work and write. 

I will also be adding photos I have worked on. Photography is my hobby and I will share the works here on the website.
