Audio Impressions

Artist: Rupert Gregson Williams

Album: The Alienist (Original Series Soundtrack)

These compositions are crafted so well - both sonically and musically, that it is humbling. Williams borrows heavily from the compositional stylings of the Nick Cave / Warren Ellis efforts. However, Williams introduces tension and dynamic changes into the formula. This is some ultimate late night, lights off listening!

Artist: U2

Album: Songs of Experience

Amazing capture. The audio has immediacy and mixed incredibly well. Each instrument lives in its own space and has great definition. The content has momentum but lacks the drive and passion of earlier releases. On this album, U2 offers tracks with grooves and heavy processing (at times excessive). A huge departure from their work with Steve Lillywhite when they were angry and the tracks churned forward under stylized percussive marching beats.

Artist: Max Richter

Album: Hostiles (Soundtrack)

The tracks Max composed for the movie are quite remarkable. To me, many scenes only made sense because his work set the whole mood. His dark drones paired with thematic down walking progressions paired incredibly well with the brooding main character and emotionally charged themes. He supplied tension and beauty while maintaining an eeriness in the orchestrations. Brilliantly done!
